PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE TO LIBERTY: NOT THE USA'S POLICE STATE

Police State USA & Nazi numbers to babies

There are some ways in which the USA seems less free, and more socialistic than most other countries. The main example is the pledge of allegiance. All other countries shun it. No other country on earth expects children to slavishly chant a socialist's pledge in such a bizarre ritual, in military formation, and by law in socialist schools every day upon the ring of a government bell, like Pavlov's lapdogs of the state.

Frightening information about the history of the Pledge of Allegiance is at http://rexcurry.net/book1a1contents-pledge.html (with shocking historical photographs) and for fascinating information about symbolism see http://rexcurry.net/book1a1contents-swastika.html

STOP THE AUTHORITARIAN
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

Does the pledge of allegiance establish a religion -- the worship of government? As a Libertarian, and an attorney too, I am fascinated by court litigation about the pledge.  As a pro bono service, I help educate the public about the litigation.

The Pledge of Allegiance was written (1892) by a bigot who was a self-proclaimed National Socialist and advocated that government should operate all schools as a socialist monopoly and end all of the better alternatives. http://rexcurry.net/pledgebigot.html  The government forced children to attend segregated schools where they recited the Pledge using it’s original  straight-arm salute http://rexcurry.net/pledgeracism.html (with eye-popping photo there or below).  The practice began three decades before it was adopted by the National Socialist German Workers' Party, and the government school racism continued through WWII and beyond, and the government schools still exist to this day. Mmore photos at http://rexcurry.net/pledge2.html

The pledge was authored by Francis Bellamy, first cousin and follower of the National Socialist author Edward Bellamy. Edward Bellamy's novel, "Looking Backward," (1888) predicted that life in the year 2000 would be a totalitarian society where private trade is outlawed, where all men are in an "industrial army," (a Bellamy term) where all of society is modeled on the military and where the government schools are explicitly modeled on the military to indoctrinate everyone to submit to "military socialism" (another Bellamy term). It was portrayed as utopia.

That is behind the militaristic totalitarian-style robotic chanting of the pledge as a collective by children in some government schools, on cue from the government every single day.

As strange as it may seem, the totalitarian ideas that inspired the pledge's author had a role in the socialist "Wholecaust" (of which the Holocaust was a part) and in hundreds of millions slaughtered worldwide.

Remove the pledge from the flag. Remove the flag from the schools. Remove the schools from the government.

1. The pledge of allegiance and the robotic chanting that is such an oddball feature of the USA's police state. http://rexcurry.net/pledge1.html
On 06/12/06 the U.S. Senate was one vote away from passing a constitutional amendment that would criminalize desecration of the U.S. flag. If successful, it will mark the first time in 214 years that the Bill of Rights has been restricted by a constitutional amendment, and will place the United States among a select group of nations that have banned flag desecration, including Cuba, China, Iran, and Iraq under Saddam Hussein.
The Pledge and the flag have inspired republican-socialists in Congress to sponsor federal laws to override private property rights and impose flag displays (as a special exception, while discriminating against all other displays) in condominiums.

******************

Today, the flag is a symbol of the USA's growing police state. The federal flag code is so broad and vague that most Americans do not realize that they violate the law constantly. The flag code bans the use of the flag on pins, hats, caps, bandanas, towels, bikinis, underwear, signs, patches, shirts, stickers, book covers, cell phone skins, etc.  Individuals violate the law if they do almost anything with a flag besides hoist it up a pole and salute it.

Francis Bellamy (the author of the pledge of allegiance) and his cousin and cohort, the author Edward Bellamy, were self-proclaimed national socialists in the U.S. who wanted the government to take over everything.  They promoted "military socialism" and the straight-armed salute, and they did it 3 decades before the National Socialist German Workers' Party (Nazis).

Bellamy believed that government schools with pledges and flags were needed to brainwash children to embrace nationalism, militarism, and socialism.

Bellamy wanted the government to takeover everything and impose the military’s “efficiency,” as he said.   It is the origin of the modern military-socialist complex.

Bellamy wanted a flag over every school because he wanted to nationalize and militarize everything, including all schools, and eliminate all of the better alternatives. During Bellamy’s time the government was taking over education.

Bellamy wanted government schools to ape the military.  Government schools were intended to create an “industrial army” (another Bellamy phrase, and the word “army” was not metaphorical) and to help nationalize everything else.
Government schools teach that the pledge was created to sell flags to schools and Francis Bellamy is described as an advertising pioneer.  That is a whitewashed piece of the whole story.  A better description is that Bellamy was a propaganda pioneer, comparable to Leni Riefenstahl.

That is one of many reasons why Francis Bellamy and his also-famous cousin Edward Bellamy are known as the "American Hitlers" and as the first "American Nazis." http://rexcurry.net/pledge1.html

REMOVE THE PLEDGE FROM THE FLAG
REMOVE THE FLAG FROM SCHOOLS
REMOVE SCHOOLS FROM GOVERNMENT

No other country uses a pledge of allegiance to a flag the way the USA does, nor does any other country have laws specifying the recitation daily, in the hopes of promoting it among students in formation and in government schools on cue each day.  Barbados has a national pledge that includes allegiance to "my country Barbados and to my flag," but it is not a routine part of the school day.

In an interview with the New York Times, former Independent Prosecutor Kenneth Starr was asked about the bizarre practice in the USA.  Starr represented the mother of the girl whose father wanted the Supreme Court to strike two words from the Pledge. When asked, "Do any other countries have a pledge of allegiance to their flags?" Starr answered, "Not to my knowledge."

In the wake of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack, many states and local school districts reinstated the daily pledge in socialist schools (government schools). As of 2004, at least 27 states had done so.

No other country has a pledge of allegiance to a flag nor, worse still, a robotic chant of a socialist's pledge to brainwash children with a salute in military formation every single day upon the ring of a government bell, like Pavlov's lapdogs of the state.

The "Roman salute" myth is used to cover-up the fact that government inside the U.S. promoted socialized schools, military socialism within government schools, the creation of industrial armies, and daily robotic pledges of allegiance in military formation with the infamous straight-arm salute (the Nazi salute).
http://rexcurry.net/pledgesalute.html

The pledge of allegiance was the origin of the salute of the National Socialist German Workers’ Party (Nazi Party) because Francis Bellamy was a self-proclaimed national socialist who  promoted “military socialism” (a Bellamy term).  To promote militarism, Bellamy started the pledge of allegiance with a military salute.

The military salute was held for the phrase “I pledge allegiance” and then the right arm extended straight outward toward the flag for the rest of the chant.  Historic photographs are linked at http://rexcurry.net/pledge1.html  and at http://rexcurry.net/pledge_military.html

The first description of the pledge had the palm of the hand turned upward for the straight-armed gesture.   The gesture changed in use, growing into the "Heil Hitler" appearance because of the military salute (palm down) extended casually straight toward the flag.

James Bailey Upham suggested to Bellamy part of the gesture (the straight-arm with the palm upward).  Upham’s suggested gesture (palm up) was like saying “Here is the flag.”  It was because of Bellamy’s alteration (the addition of the military salute) that the pledge evolved into the Nazi-style.

Upham was also familiar with Bellamy's "military socialism" dogma because Edward Bellamy, cousin and cohort to Francis, had written of it in the international bestseller "Looking Backward" in 1888, and both Bellamys had been openly involved in the national socialism movement and the "Nationalist" magazine.

Germans learned bad American behavior via old films, via WWI, and via the widespread use of the straight-arm salute by German-American groups (including the German American Bund) in the USA, that  led to its adoption later by the National Socialist German Workers’ Party (Nazi Party). http://rexcurry.net/pledgebund.html

Germany and the entire world is owed an apology for the horrid influence that government had inside the U.S. in promoting socialized schools, military socialism within government schools, the creation of industrial armies, and daily robotic pledges of allegiance in military formation with the infamous straight-arm salute.

USA'S PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE IN LIBERIA
LIBERIAN PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

Even Liberia, although it copied the Pledge of Allegiance from the USA, does not impose laws requiring children to robotically chant it daily in government schools. Liberia probably also adopted the USA's stiff-arm salute when it adopted the USA's pledge.

The Liberian Flag and Allegiance, Foreign and Clever Plagiarism
A Critical look

Many Liberian historians and scholars continue to argue about who were present on the flag committee and who were not present. Others are arguing about the description of the flag. The fact of the matter is, Liberian flag is foreign and is a complete plagiarism, which is the result of lack of ingenuity on the part of the designers and their facilitators. Any argument without advancing suggestions for a solution, leads us to nowhere. It has been a century and half now since Susana Lewis and others committed this clever plagiarism. Our failure to revisit the designs of our flag and the allegiance reduces us to nothing but a bunch of unintelligent people.

Flag is a symbolic expression and national identity of a people in a given society. A country’s flag is designed from some important historical influences and landmarks such as the declaration of independence, the country’s geography, and the people and what they stand for. Liberian flag is one of the few controversial national symbols on the African continent.

The Liberian national flag is called “LONE STAR”. The eleven horizontal stripes represent the eleven signers of the declaration of independence and the constitution of the Republic of Liberia; the blue field symbolizes the continent of Africa; the five pointed white star depicts Liberia as the first “independent republic” on the continent of Africa; the red color designates “valor”; the white, “purity”; and the blue, “fidelity”. Although these representations are uniquely Liberian, according to some historians, some political analysts and historians on the contrary, think Liberian flag is replica of “Old Glory.”

Liberian flag, to be frank, is a copy of the American flag, suggesting that the designers of the flag lacked vision and creativity. The flag has no description of our geography, except the blue field, which the designers referred to as “continent of Africa.” This is a complete mockery and demonstrates still, another twist of history.

The blue color in the Liberian flag has no symbolic significance to Africa as suggested by the designers and those who gave these descriptions. African flags are dominantly green and yellow/gold, signifying African wealth. The representation of the five pointed white star could make sense, but the color otherwise suggests the 51st state of the United States of America, or is a self governing unincorporated territory of the United States  as Puerto-Rico. In fact, in the United States, Liberian flag is not attractive; rather it looks like another US territory some where in the world.

Second act of plagiarism:

On the pledge of allegiance to the flag, Liberia copied verbatim from the US pledge of allegiance.  Dr. Guanue said in an interview with FPA, “We have not composed our own pledge of allegiance. It’s the US pledge that we copied and inserted the word Liberia in place of the United States.”

The US pledge of allegiance: I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

Liberian pledge of allegiance: I pledge allegiance to the flag of Liberia and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

Liberians have long been comfortable with these unauthorized or unacceptable   standards of our culture and social organization. When the 1980 revolution took place, Liberian politicians and historians moved quickly to sanction the changing of names of streets and buildings, and amending the constitution to the disadvantage of the Liberian people, and in favor of the military regime without much being said of the most noticeable acts of plagiarism of our flag and its allegiance. Even the constitution was a plagiarism, though the plagiarism was immaterial, because the constitution was invisible.

The so-called elite, the ruling class, the political architects, and even the lower class have all been riding in the same boat when it comes to pledging blind loyalty to America. This derived from the principles on which Liberia was founded; which say that the basic way in which we can succeed, is to be submissive and dare not be independent of America; and we must be manipulated; our government and political organizations actions must be controlled by the United States.

A number of countries in Africa have made significant changes in their histories. The Democratic Republic of Congo was Zaire. Burkina Faso was Upper Volta; her flag has changed as well; Zimbabwe was Rhodesia with its flag changed; Republic of Benin was Dahomey; and the list goes on.

These countries bravely made these changes to reflect their identities and prides. For them, the right to self-government without interference from outside is the definition of freedom. Despite our unflinching loyalty to the U.S., she was the last country to send troops after France and Britain reminded her of our long loyalty to her and forcibly pulled her from the shell. Symptom of malaria discovered on one marine led U.S. troop to pull out as quickly as possible.

A correspondent at the ceremony marking the unfurling of a new flag for the new Republic described it this way, “During the ceremony of presenting the flag, many eyes were suffused with tears. And indeed, who that remembered the past could forbear to weep? Who that looked back to America and remembered what he saw and felt there, could be otherwise than agitated.” Yet, we continue to fly copyright flag under the impression that it’s not wrong to carry American flag, because we are a small America in Africa. This is unrealizable hope or fantasy that will haunt us for ever unless we change our sense of direction. Our posterity will be smart and brave, and they will question us in our old age and in our graves

Liberia and its special relationship

When Tony Blair was prime minister of Britain we often heard of the special relationship between his country and the US. President Bush also spoke of that special relationship. The term "special relationship" was first used by Winston Churchill in 1946 in his famous Iron Curtain speech at Fulton, Missouri. Churchill was describing Anglo-American ties that had developed during World War II. The term has also been used to describe the ties between the United States and Liberia, the West African country which has been independent since 1847.

Both Liberia and the United States acknowledge the special relationship. This relationship, however, was only partially forged by World War II when Liberia became strategically important in the prosecution of the war in the North African theatre. Liberia's importance to the Allied cause became evident early o'clock after Malaysia and Singapore fell to the Japanese. Liberia became a primary source of latex rubber for the allies. This was not the sole way that Liberia became vital in the Allied cause. A South American- Liberian air corridor was opened up to facilitate the transport of soldiers and supplies across the Atlantic, thus avoiding German U-boats which were lurking in the North Atlantic.

The special relationship between the oldest independent nation in Africa and the United States goes back even further than World War II. It began way back in 1822 when American slaves returned to settle in Africa. Quakers and slaveholders formed the African Colonisation Society and collaborated in sending the slaves back to Africa. The Quakers hoped that the slaves would have a better chance to live free in Africa, while the slaveholders wanted to avoid bloody slave rebellions as had happened in Haiti.

Returning Africans, now called Americo-Liberians, wished to model the new nation along the lines of the United States, hence the name Liberia, which means the Land of the Free. Other American symbols followed. The Liberian flag resembles the American flag, there is a pledge of allegiance, and Liberia's official language is English. Liberia's capital, Monrovia, was named after former US president, James Monroe who sent aid to free the slaves.

But tensions arose immediately between the Americo-Liberians and the indigenous Africans. The tensions stemmed from religious differences, social customs, and cultural standards rooted in the ante bellum American South on the part of Americo- Liberians. Naturally politics exacerbated the situation when Americo-Liberians over the years grabbed the lion's share of governmental posts, including the presidency.

Today, Liberia is a despoiled country, the result of civil wars that have taken a heavy toll on the nation's development.

Interestingly, it was an individual of purported Trinidad roots who precipitated the first civil war and was involved in the second. The father of Charles Taylor, a warlord who became president of Liberia, lived at Point Fortin and later went to Africa and threw in his lot with the Americo-Liberians. Taylor, the former president, who is now facing trial before a UN-backed war crimes tribunal, is the father of Charles "Chuckie'' Taylor who spent time in Trinidad before he was arrested in Miami after attempting to enter the United States on a forged passport.

Liberia's civil wars have left its economy in shambles and the US Congress has appropriated $840 million to help in the country's reconstruction. Liberia's first woman president, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, and Africa's first, has described the US role in helping Liberia as "critical." Consequently, she has asked the United States for debt relief. US assistance may certainly be forthcoming in that respect. After all, that's what special relationships are all about. It will be difficult for the US to forget Liberia's cooperation during World War 11, including declaring war against Germany and the Axis powers at its behest.

The tyranny without end, the spying, secret camps, wire taps, arrests without warrant, kidnapping, renditions, indefinite detention, despising the Geneva Conventions, despising the U.S. Constitution and assumption of dictatorial prerogatives.  The disregard of human life, the abuse and torture, the deliberate degradation, the secrecy, the atmosphere of fear.

How did we get to the point where the "federal" (i.e., central) government defines for us the drinking age for alcohol, how much wheat farmers can grow, the ability of terminally ill cancer patients to medicate themselves with marijuana, the amount of sugar that can be used in ketchup, and even the size of toilets?

Judge Napolitano’s book: "Between 1937 and 1995, not a single federal law was declared unconstitutional by the Supreme Court. Not one piece of legislation was seen as exceeding the scope of Congress’s commerce power." (Emphasis added). So much for the phony argument that "judicial review" by the federal courts acts to protect liberty. Instead, it does the opposite: It expands the size and scope of government at the expense of liberty. This sad story is told over the course of several of the latter chapters of The Constitution in Exile.

Judge Napolitano’s book: in a chapter entitled "After 9/11" the judge writes that "The PATRIOT Act and its progeny are the most abominable, unconstitutional governmental assaults on personal freedom since the Alien and Sedition Acts of 1798" and "the most unpatriotic of the things that the Bush administration and this [Republican controlled] Congress could have visited upon us."

Judge Napolitano’s book: "federal agents and local police can write their own search warrants, serve them on American financial institutions without the intervention of a judge, and obtain information about you without you even knowing it!" The PATRIOT Act "has allowed the government to circumvent completely the Fourth Amendment" and "makes it a crime – punishable by five years in jail – for the recipient of a self-written search warrant to tell anyone that he or she has received the search warrant." These rats know that they are rats.

Judge Napolitano’s book: "The government can now . . . break into your house . . . steal your checkbook, put an electronic bug under your kitchen table, and make it look like it was a house burglary. It can even leave and not tell you or the local police what has happened."

Judge Napolitano recommends abolition of the income tax ("the Sixteenth Amendment . . . should be abolished outright"); same for the Seventeenth Amendment which called for the direct election of U.S. senators and a return to the system of appointing them by state legislatures; and the recognition that the federal government will never check its own power. "Thus, I would clarify the right of the states to secede from the Union," writes the judge from New Jersey, "losing all the benefits that come from membership [in the union], but regaining all the freedom membership has taken away.

COPS AND ROBBERS (the cops are the robbers): Someone wrote: In 1980 I was leaving the country to play in a high stakes poker game. I had my entire bankroll hidden on me.($21,000.) Customs arrested me after questioning me and finding my money. I was charged with failure to file a notice that I was taking out over $10K. That charge was dropped and I was charged with lying about the money while being quetioned in publlic. I was convicted of a felony and fined $2K. The money was not returned. Why? I never got an answer. For years I told this story at the poker tables and someone always accused me of lying. Why? "That stuff can't happen in America!"
United States of America v. $124,700 in U.S. Currency: the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit took that amount of cash away from Emiliano Gomez Gonzolez while holding that Driving With Money is a Crime and that police may seize cash from motorists even in the absence of any evidence that a crime has been committed.

A federal appeals court ruled yesterday that if a motorist is carrying large sums of money, it is automatically subject to confiscation. In the case entitled, "

A fan writes: I went to Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral with my son. It was really bizarre seeing uniformed Airmen with fully automatic machine guns strapped over their soldiers throughout the visitors center.

The coming crackdown on blogging. March 3, 2005 By Declan McCullagh.  Bradley Smith says that the days of political blogging and online punditry are over.  In just a few months, he warns, bloggers and news organizations could risk the wrath of the federal government if they improperly link to a campaign's Web site. Even forwarding a political candidate's press release to a mailing list, depending on the details, could be punished by fines.  Smith should know. He's one of the six commissioners at the Federal Election Commission, which is beginning the perilous process of extending a controversial 2002 campaign finance law to the Internet. In 2002, the FEC exempted the Internet by a 4-2 vote, but U.S. District Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly last fall overturned that decision. "The commission's exclusion of Internet communications from the coordinated communications regulation severely undermines" the campaign finance law's purposes, Kollar-Kotelly wrote. Smith and the other two Republican commissioners wanted to appeal the Internet-related sections. But because they couldn't get the three Democrats to go along with them, what Smith describes as a "bizarre" regulatory process now is under way.

The news reported that at least 20 federal agencies have made and distributed pre-packaged, ready-to-serve television news segments to promote the president's policies and initiatives. Congress' Government Accountability Office determined that these "video news releases" were illegal "covert propaganda" and told federal agencies to stop. But last Friday, the White House ordered all agencies to disregard Congress' directive. The President's administration is using hundreds of millions of your tax dollars to manipulate public opinion.

Comments from US soldier Camilo Mejia who refused to return to his unit in Iraq after taking leave in October 2003:  "People would ask me about my war experiences and answering them took me back to all the horrors - the firefights, the ambushes, the time I saw a young Iraqi dragged by his shoulders through a pool of his own blood or an innocent man was decapitated by our machine gun fire. The time I saw a soldier broken down inside because he killed a child, or an old man on his knees, crying with his arms raised to the sky, perhaps asking God why we had taken the lifeless body of his son. I thought of the suffering of a people whose country was in ruins and who were further humiliated by the raids, patrols and curfews of an occupying army.
"And I realized that none of the reasons we were told about why we were in Iraq turned out to be true... I realized that I was part of a war that I believed
was immoral and criminal, a war of aggression, a war of imperial domination. I realized that acting upon my principles became incompatible with my role in the
military, and I decided that I could not return to Iraq." (Mejia, 'Regaining My Humanity,')
