Gracie’s Big Splash II
The community of Belleair and other friends and supporters
came together on Sunday, Aug. 10, at the Dimmitt Community Center
for Gracie’s Big Splash II
and once again the event was an enormous success!
We were blessed with perfect weather for this year’s Splash
and the kids spent the evening getting wet and wild with waterslides,
hula hoop contests, tug of war and other games.
The Bluffs Fire Department provided plenty of splashy fun with their fire hose and even participated in the tug of war!
The huge bake sale, raffle and silent auction were also a great success.
Thank you to all of our sponsors, volunteers and, of course, the children.
Thanks to your dedicated support we were able to donate more than $10,000
to The Elena Tresh Foundation.
We are looking forward to the fun and fellowship of
Gracie’s Big Splash next year to benefit another worthwhile cause.

“Life is like a waiting room to get into Heaven”
Gracie Purdy
|
The Purdy family wishes to share this letter with you
Gracie
Purdy died Monday, April 21st, from the same tumor that took Elena's
life. It's ironic that God wanted me to walk down this road again,
holding their hands, as they endure this, the unthinkable....the
unbearable....reality of life. Gracie loved the colors pink and
orange, and was fiercely independent! She never complained once, and
her thoughts were always of others first, especially her brother,
Nolan. She loved Webkinz and wrote beautiful stories. Prayers for her
parents, Llisiana and Martin, and Nolan, her 10 year old brother, are
requested. I'm sure Elena was there to make sure Gracie ate, and
played with all of the other helpless victims of this disease. We must
find a cure. We must. I was so lucky to have had you touch my life,
Gracie. You taught me the lessons I missed the first time around.
With love, and admiration.....Miss Jennifer
In
lieu of flowers, the Purdy Family graciously asked that donations be
made in Gracie's name to The Elena Tresh Foundation. The foundation is in the process of
selecting a research project that targets brainstem gliomas. There are
promising new developments, that desperately require funding to bring
them to light. There efforts to find a cure will memorialize Gracie, by
naming the first sponsored effort in her name. This mission is no
longer an option. In 9 years since Elena's death, there has been
little advancement in the treatment of these types of brain tumors.
This has to change. It will change. Thank you for all of your
support, and willingness to make a contribution to their efforts.
Together, we can make a difference.

How Long?
~A tribute for beloved Gracie and her beautiful family~
How can we know just how long each life on earth should be
We know it would last forever if left to you and me
Each day so filled with blessings we hoped would never end
When things like this just happen, is Jesus still our friend?
We pray and try to figure out just where did things go wrong
When life so soon is ended though mercy was our song
We prayed that God would spare her life, our Gracie please don’t take
If only we can keep her, we’d all earthly goods forsake
Then we heard sweet Mother Mary speak a message to our heart
Your God and Jesus love you- their compassion here impart
They’d never take your baby and they want you each to know
They see your hearts are breaking as little Gracie had to go
Her journey was a brief one in this sojourn known as life
Now I want to speak my promise, help to heal your pain and strife
Gracie’s now with me forever, she’s fulfilled her earthly task
Someday you’ll see the beauty, when time lifts its veil and mask
I’ve promised “all things work for good”- someday you’ll clearly see
My love for you and Gracie through all eternity
I watched the way you cared for her- your tender loving way
No family could have given more throughout each night and day
Now your Angel watches over you – In heaven I’ve made her whole
The dawn will come –Joy will return, My peace will fill your soul
Written the evening before Gracie’s journey to heaven….as I reflected on the
depth of love and beauty of spirit I observed as Llisiana and Marty sat at the
bedside of their precious little daughter.
